Book of the Month - The Lovely Reckless by Kami Garcia
The Lovely Reckless reviews:
From #1 New York Times bestselling author Kami Garcia, a gritty contemporary romance full of loss, love and redemption…
Haunted by memories of her boyfriend’s death and her inability to identify the killer, Frankie would do anything to forget the past. She now lives her life by one dangerous rule: nothing matters. After a reckless mistake, Frankie must leave her privileged life in the upper class Heights to enroll at a public high school in the Downs, where fistfights are common before first period and some students drive in illegal street-races at night.
Marco Leone is the best racer there is. Tough and dangerous and entirely captivating, he makes it difficult for Frankie not to feel. But the lengths Marco goes to in order to survive in the Downs threaten to have devastating consequences. When Frankie is confronted with his secret, she must decide if she is willing to let her tragic past determine her future. Can she risk what little she has left to follow her heart?

You know the best way to thank an author for writing a book that entertained you? Write a review and tell your friends! That's what I'm going to start here on the JamieMcGuire.com blog!
For my first Book of the Month, I couldn't think of a better title for February than Kami Garcia's The Lovely Reckless. Besides the fact that this book has everything you could possibly want in a feel-good romance, Kami Garcia is one of the most talented, gracious, intelligent, and sassy authors I know. You will remember her as the co-author of Beautiful Creatures--adapted into a movie in 2013 by Warner Brothers Entertainment, and the amazing Legion series.
The Lovely Reckless was named as Teen Vogue's Best New YA Books of 2016, and pitches as The Fast and the Furious meets Romeo and Juliet. Really, that couldn't be more spot-on.
As soon as Kami learned I was featuring her book, she offered an ARC as a giveaway! See? Gotta love her.
